Indoor Air Quality in Offices

and Industries

  • We spend about 90% of our time indoors at our home and our workplace.
  • A large part of company’s expenses, up to 90%, goes to the costs of your employees.
  • We spend more than one third of the day at our workplace.
  • Home and work environment can make an impact in your business.

Poor air quality causes employees to become sluggish, unproductive and ill. Overlooking how important air quality is for your company is therefore a lousy business. It is important that indoor air quality in your company is the best possible.

Your employees often stay more than a third of the day at your company. A large part of your company’s expenses, up to 90%, goes to the costs of your employees, such as salaries, social security contributions, employer fees, etc. A modest investment in better indoor air quality for better health, fewer sick leave and higher productivity per employee gives greater profitability.

Can you afford to ignore indoor air quality and its impact in the business?

Do you have good indoor air quality if your company’s building is new?

No. New buildings have actually large amounts of volatile organic compounds in the air exuded from the materials used in the construction process. The World Health Organization, WHO, believes that 30% of all new or renovated buildings have poor indoor air quality.

Ensuring the right ventilation system from the beginning and having regular monitoring and handling of indoor air quality is important for your and your employees’ well-being.

There are studies showing that the concentration of certain common air pollutants in the indoor air is higher than the concentration in the same substances outdoors. These substances include volatile organic compounds – VOC due to building materials and textiles. The smallest particles also include viruses, exhaust gases from traffic and combustion, asbestos and bacteria. The ultrafine particles penetrate the brain through the olfactory nerve and affect the brain function and increase the risk of developing asthma, allergies and chronic diseases.

It is important and possible to minimise the particle content in indoor environments using efficient filters and air purifiers. Therefore, we rent high quality air purifiers on a monthly basis, with activated carbon filter. The air purifiers remove contaminants such as dust, pollen, odours, viruses and mould spores, as well as microorganisms and other contaminants exuded from building materials, people and clothing, among other sources. You get better indoor air quality immediately after starting. It is also possible to buy the air cleaner if desired.

We at Colswe develop and offer our environmental sensors and our services for measuring indoor air quality, as well as air purifiers, for all types of workplaces. We also offer competence enhancing measurement training for technicians who perform measurement service for indoor air quality and thermal comfort.
